Prenatal Yoga

A supportive practice for the changing body.

Pregnancy is a time of tremendous physical and emotional change. Yoga can offer a space to slow down, breathe, move mindfully, and connect with your changing body.

With additional training in, and many years of experience with prenatal yoga, I offer private prenatal sessions that can be adapted to your stage of pregnancy, experience, comfort level, and individual needs.

Emily is such a gifted prenatal yoga instructor. Her classes strike a great balance of effort and relaxation. When I finish class, I not only feel rejuvenated and relieved of my pregnancy aches, but I also feel stronger.

A practice that changes with you.

Your body isn’t the same from one trimester to the next - and your yoga practice doesn’t have to be either.

Sessions may focus on:

  • Gentle movement

  • Mobility and comfortable range of motion

  • Breath awareness

  • Relaxation

  • Rest and restoration

  • Creating space and ease in the body

  • Preparing for the physical changes of pregnancy

  • Encouraging baby into an optimal position

  • Preparing for the birth process

Private sessions allow us to adjust your practice as your pregnancy progresses and as your needs change.

A quiet space to connect.

Pregnancy can be busy. A private yoga session offers you time to slow down, turn your attention inward, and connect with your baby.

You don’t need to have previous yoga experience to begin.

Experienced support for the journey to birth

With experience as both a prenatal yoga teacher and former birth doula, Emily brings a unique understanding of the physical and emotional experience of pregnancy and birth to every class.

Prenatal yoga is not medical care.

Yoga during pregnancy should be approached thoughtfully and is intended to complement - not replace - your prenatal medical care.

Every element of every practice is carefully crafted using Emily’s deep knowledge of how pregnant bodies can safely move and what is beneficial for preparing the body for pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum recovery.

In addition to guiding us through the physical practice, Emily coaches us in how to use breath as a tool and how to identify our own unproductive thought patterns and instead recognize the power and agency that we possess within.

Just wanted to send a quick note to say how helpful I found my practices during labor. The breathing really helped and the focus on relaxing when you can relax was key.
